ILOILO HOSPITAL – The St. Paul’s Hospital was placed under a lockdown after six (6) doctors tested positive for COVID-19.

The COVID-19 or coronavirus pandemic is not yet over. Everyone must not be complacent to avoid the second wave of the pandemic from happening.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is going to be a longterm battle against the disease. The international organization was also alarmed by the rapid spread of the disease.

In the Philippines, there is now a total of 35,455 cases of coronavirus. According to the Department of Health (DOH), 1,244 of these cases are fatalities while the recoveries is at 9,686 now.

Currently, Cebu City is under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) for being the city with the highest coronavirus cases. Metro Manila and several other areas are observing a General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

The whole PH is still under a community quarantine with the low risk areas implementing the Modified GCQ. It is a protocol to wear a face mask when going outdoors and social distancing must be observed.

Undeniably, doctors and nurses are the most at risk amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, an Iloilo hospital was placed under a lockdown after six (6) doctors tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Regional Interagency Task Force for COVID-19’s Attorney Roy Villa, the lockdown of the St. Paul’s Hospital is per the recommendation of the DOH Region 6. All the staff of the hospital are under a strict quarantine.

Based on the report, there are still no details as to until when the said Iloilo Hospital will be under a lockdown. The operating rooms, the Emergency Room, and the Out Patient Department are all closed.

Villa also expressed that all the people working in the hospital will undergo a COVID-19 testing. Mayor Jerry Treñas has also confirmed the said locking down of a hospital in his city and assured that contact tracing is conducted now.
