FDA Confiscates Over P30 Million Food, Illegal Medicines, Medical Products In San Fernando, Pampanga
FDA – The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) confiscated over P30 million worth of illegal medicines, medical products and food in Pampanga.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for safeguarding the health of the Filipinos. They are the ones who check the efficacy of a product before distributing it to the mass.
Amid the 2019 novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) they tighten the clinical observation of COVID-19 antibody tests. Last April, the agency released a statement regarding ‘Carrimycin,’ the medicine China used in fighting the deadly virus.
FDA chief Eric Domingo said ‘Carrimycin’ was not part of the solidarity trial of vaccines against the coronavirus. He said, “‘yung Carrimycin po is an investigational drug na ginagamit po ngayon sa China—clinical trials pa rin to see if it’s useful for COVID.”

Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, FDA seized over P30 million worth of food, medical essentials, cosmetics, illegal medicines, and food in San Fernando City, Pampanga. The agency’s OIC Gomel Gabuna said they conducted raids in the Northern and Central Luzon region during lockdowns.
“Kung sa Chinese lang po, pumapalo na po ng higit kumulang mga 30 milyun yun, sa Chinese lang. Plus may programa kasi ang gobyerno, kasama natin ang DTI regarding sa mga overpricing ng mga produkto noong panahon ng ECQ, kung isasama po natin yun, mga thirty million five hundred thousand, estimate lang po yun,” said Gabuna.
According to the report, FDA together with the Crime Investigation and Detection Group of Philippine National Police (PNP-CIDG) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Regional 3, raided a total of 4 different establishments that operate without a license.
“Yung apat po na yun, wala pong license to operate po yun lahat at ang mga product po nila puro wala pong certificate of product registration po yung mga nakuha po natin,” said Gabuna.
Based on the report, the medicines that are confiscated on the area are now kept at FDA’s warehouse. All of the medicines will be destroyed.
