Pres. Duterte Set To Make National Address On Monday, June 15

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is set to speak to the nation on Monday, June 15, 2020.

The Philippines is still on a crisis now due to the outbreak of COVID-19. This disease was first recorded in China last December 2019 and over 200 countries and territories now got cases of this coronavirus.

In the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) has already recorded 23,732 cases of the disease. According to the health department, 1,027 of these patients died while the total recoveries now is at 4,895.

The entire country is under a community quarantine now. The high-risk areas like Metro Manila are under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ). The low and medium risk areas are implementing the Modified GCQ or MGCQ.

Aside from the quarantine measures that limit the movement of the people to essential purposes, the wearing of face mask outdoors is also a must. Social distancing must also be observed.

The quarantine measures are set to expire this June 15. Many await the announcement on whether it will be extended, lifted, or modified.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Duterte is set to speak to the nation on Monday, June 15, 2020, regarding the quarantine measures against COVID-19. It was confirmed by Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque.

According to Roque, the National Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 (NIATF) already has recommendations but they are not yet final. According to the report, he expressed that appeals may still take place.

Supposedly, Pres. Duterte was set to meet with the NIATF today in Davao City. However, it was postponed to Monday in Manila.
