High School in Taguig City Conducts Virtual Graduation Ceremony

HIGH SCHOOL – A school in Taguig City conducted a virtual graduation ceremony using toga-clad robots.

The World Health Organization advised the public to practice “social distancing” amid the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is the safest and simplest way to reduce the transmission of the deadly disease.

In the Philippines, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte immediately suspended the classes and government work to prevent the spread of the virus. The Department of Education (DepEd) also decided to hold graduation ceremonies.

A school in Isabela conducted a house-to-house mobile graduation rite for its students following the request of parents. The officials of Cauayan East Central School visited the homes of their graduates to give them their awards.

In Japan, a university decided to conduct a graduation ceremony using robots. Their robots wore a gown and a cap. Photos of their graduation rites went viral on social media.

Recently, a public secondary institution in Taguig City conducted a virtual graduation rite. The school officials used toga-clad robots for the ceremony.

The faces of the robots were tablets that displayed the faces of their graduates. Philstar shared several photos on their Twitter account.

On May 5, DepEd announced that the school year 2020-2021 will open on August 24. In a previous article, ex-senator Antonio Trillaes IV suggested that the opening of classes in public schools and universities should be postponed until January 2021.
