Judy Ann Santos talked about her role in ‘Call My Manager’
Seasoned actress Judy Ann Santos revealed that she has been handling her own career since her longtime manager, Alfie Lorenzo, passed away.
This was the reason why playing a talent manager in the Philippine adaptation of “Call My Manager” feels deeply personal for her.
Speaking at the series’ press conference, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, Juday shared that she resonates with roughly 70 percent of her character, Andrea Manuel, especially regarding her commitment to her profession in the face of personal hardships.
“For the same reason that, regardless of whenever, even if brokenhearted or not, may sakit o wala, papasok ako. I will go to work. I will do my job,” he shared.
Judy Ann Santos remembered the times during her years filming television dramas when she kept working through illnesses, occasionally remaining on set until her health worsened enough to require medical care.
The actress emphasized that her work ethic is motivated by her dedication to her profession and respect for the production crew, not by a need for validation.
She noted that her upbringing in show business taught her that production delays harm the whole crew, not just actors, since everyone relies on daily wages.
Her character in the series holds a deeply personal resonance for Judy Ann Santos, who noted that she gained full control over her career after Alfie Lorenzo passed away. This was not planned.
“I realized what he was doing for me back then wasn’t really an easy job, that you really have to know how to talk to your producers, to the people around you, and really get along with them,” she said.
On the other hand, the actress clarified that while her personal background played a role, her late manager was not the sole inspiration for the character of Andrea.
