According to GMA News, the mall giant said that it set it maximum carrying capacity for malls operating in areas under modified ECQ, says senior vice president and general manager Arlene Magtibay.

This is in order to prevent overcrowding of mall goers.

“Lahat ng aming mga malls ay naka-compute na ang maximum carrying capacity,”

“I just like to inform you na so far lahat ng mga mall ay well within the maximum carrying capacity,”

The announcement followed after the giant observed that malls in the capital start to get crowded after the capital shifted to MECQ on May 16.

“There’s a certain number [of people] based on the gross floor area of the supermarket…,”

As per the report, Magtibay said that the management is imposing strict health guidelines like mandatory wearing of face masks; barring entry for those without quarantine passes; social distancing; disinfection and sanitation; visual queuing and directional markings and signages;and foot baths.

“Naglabas kami ng mall reopening guidebook para sa mga retailer at ating mga restaurants. Dinetalye namin mga measures to make sure ang kanilang mga tindahan magkakaroon ng social distancing,”

“We also gave them guidelines on health screening of employees and all the sanitation and disinfection that they have to do,”
