Here are some of the most controversial statements and comments of Cynthia Villar which drew flak.

Among the most controversial senators of today is Cynthia Villar. Aside from being known as the richest senator in the country, she’s also known over her foul and controversial remarks made regarding issues concerning the people.

And just recently, she’s trending again because she is against the thought for middle class people to receive cash assistance from the government. This is despite these people were also affected by forced work suspension brought about by the lockdown due to COVID-19.

Check out some of the controversies of the politician which sparked after making public statements:

  • “NURSE lang yan hindi nila kailangan maging magaling.”
    An issue way back 2013 that angered nurse. This is accordingly a degrading statement and insulting for every nurses when she stated that these nurses just wanted to become “room nurses“. That for her, nurses don’t need to be that good.
  • “Ako naman, eh kung mahal ang galunggong, eh ‘di huwag kumain ng galunggong, di ba? There are other alternatives na pwedeng gawin.”
    This is about galunggong which is also called “poor man’s fish”. She advised then that people, if they can’t afford this fish, can switch to eating vegetables instead which for her is healthier.
  • “Ipagbawal na yang unlimited rice, masama yan. Pagbawal na natin yang unlimited rice kasi nagkakasakit tayo gawa ng unlimited rice na yan; we should learn how to eat vegetables.”
    Seems like the senator is really into a healthy lifestyle and when she urged to ban unli rice, people protested and lambasted her. For her, people should learn to consume vegetables to prevent certain diseases.
  • “Bakit bibigyan [ng aid] ‘yung middle [class] e may trabaho sila? Kahit lockdown, sumusuweldo sila sa gobyerno kung employed by the government.” 
    This statement she made amid a pandemic where everyone is greatly affected may they be rich or poor. For her, middle class people don’t need cash assistance because they have jobs.
