DOH Update on COVID-19 Cases in the Philippines As of Today (May 19)
DOH – The Department of Health released the COVID-19 update in the Philippines for today, May 19, 2020.
The fight against COVID-19 in the Philippines and as well as in several other countries across the globe is not yet over. As the World Health Organization (WHO) has said, it is going to be a long-term battle.
In the Philippines, community quarantines are implemented until now in the whole country. The Laguna province, Cebu City, and Metro Manila are under a Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).
The rest of the country is under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) now. Everyone is continuously reminded to stay at home if not for essential purposes.
WHO has previously warned of the possibility of the 2nd wave and 3rd wave in case the people would be complacent amid the fight against COVID-19. It has already claimed more than 320,000 lives across the globe.
In the Philippines, more than 800 people died because of COVID-19. The Department of Health releases a daily update regarding the status of the epidemic in the country.
For today, May 19, DOH recorded 224 new cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines. The latest addition brings the total to 12,942 now. The death toll is at 837 now after 6 new deaths were recorded.
According to the health department, 114 patients have recently recovered from coronavirus. There is now a total of 2,843 recoveries in the country.
