PAGASA Releases Latest Update on Tropical Storm Ambo

TROPICAL STORM AMBO – The state weather bureau PAGASA released the latest updates on Ambo and announced the list of areas under signal no.2.

On Saturday (May 16, 2020), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that Tropical Storm Ambo has already reached Benguet. The weather disturbance would continue to prolonged heavy rains over some parts of the country.

Ambo has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 125 kph moving 15 kph northwest. The storm would bring gusty winds with rain over Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

The tropical storm would also bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the remaining parts of Central Luzon. Stormy weather is also expected over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Vizcaya and Babuyan Islands.

The weather agency also announced the seventeen areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2:

  • Babuyan Islands
  • Northwestern portion of mainland Cagayan
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Western portion of Quirino
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • La Union
  • Pangasinan
  • Apayao
  • Abra
  • Kalinga
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao
  • Benguet
  • Central portion of Aurora
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Tarlac

Here are the areas under TCWS No. 1:

  • Batanes
  • Rest of Cagayan
  • Isabela
  • Rest of Quirino
  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Pampanga
  • Bulacan
  • Rest of Aurora

Meanwhile, the localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rainshowers over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA also warned the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flashfloods and landslides.
