According to a report from ABS-CBN News, areas that are under modified enhanced community quarantine or modified ECQ from May 16 to May 31 are the capital Metro Manila, Cebu City and the province of Laguna. The Modified ECQ is a less stricter version of the ECQ.

Roque said that under the new protocol, they will not allow public transportation, with the exclusion of private shuttle buses for permitted industries by the DILG.

“Sa modified ECQ wala pa rin pong public transportation pero pwede po magdeploy ng mga shuttle buses and mga industriya na allowed magtrabaho at subject din po sa exemptions na ibibgay ng DILG,”

Under Modified ECQ or ECQ, the following public transportation are barred:

  •  Rail (PNR, LRT, MRT)
  • Bus
  • Jeepney
  • Taxi
  • TNVS
  • Tricycle
  • Public shuttle

Furthermore, domestic flights remain suspended, while a limited number of international flights and controlled in-bound flights are allowed.

As per the report, here are the following transportation that are allowed under MECQ:

  • Biking and non-motorized transport
  • Public shuttle for permitted sectors
  • Personal vehicles for workers in permitted sectors (maximum of 2 people)
  • Bicycle (1 person maximum)
  • Motorcycle (1 person maximum)
  • E-scooter (1 person maximum)

For areas unde GCQ, public transport is allowed but with reduced capacity, strict heath protocols and special permits.
