DOH Update on COVID-19 Cases in the Philippines Now
DOH – The Department of Health released an update on the COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today, May 9.
Currently, several cities in the Philippines are still under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). It is due to the coronavirus or COVID-19 cases in the country.
While the ECQ is extended in high-risk areas until May 15, the measure was downgraded to a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in low and medium risk areas. It is per the recommendation of the National Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation of the NIATF. Everyone is advised to continue staying at home to prevent the spread of coronavirus and to wear mask, exhibit social distancing, and only go out for essential purposes.

The GCQ in low and medium risk areas is set to expire on May 15. Like the ECQ in high risk areas, the decision to lift or modify it depends on the assessment of the situation per area.
