The said number of families is added to the targeted 18 million families as beneficiaries of the government’s cash aid amid the enhanced community quarantine. “Inaasahan natin na 5 milyong karagdagang pamilya ang magkakaroon ng ayuda,” Roque said, based on the report from ABS-CBN News.

He also assured the public that the cash aid that will be given to additional families is within the budget that the Congress released for SAP. Poor families, received P5,000 to P8,000. The cash aid that was given from April to May, is included in the P200 billion budget.

The first distribution is set to finish on May 7, as what the national government directed to the local government units. “Sa ngayon po, first tranche pa lang ang malinaw. Aabangan po natin ang desisyon ng Presidente para sa second tranche,” the Presidential Spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said that families residing in ECQ areas will be prioritized for the second distribution, based on the report.

“Dapat yung mga LGUs (local government units) ay mai-submit din agad yung pangalan ng mga di napasama na qualfied kasi sa second tranche ay isasama na sila at babayaran din, pati yung first month sa mga under ECQ sa second month,” the Interior Secretary said.
