BREAKING NEWS: Bacolod City ECQ Extension Request Given Verdict By Duterte

Pres. Duterte Decides on Bacolod City ECQ Extension Request by SP

BACOLOD CITY ECQ EXTENSION – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has decided on the request of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City to reconsider the decision on the lifting of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the city.

One of the cities in the Philippines with confirmed cases of coronavirus or COVID-19 is Bacolod City. To prevent the spread of the disease, Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia implemented an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the city.

The movements of the people are limited. Also, many non-essential businesses temporarily suspended operation amid the ECQ. Several essential businesses operated on a skeletal system only.

Supposedly, the ECQ in Bacolod is set to end today, April 30. It is one of the cities that the National IATF recommended to be placed under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) after assessing its cases. Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation of the body.

However, prior to the scheduled lifting of the ECQ, several new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the city. Nine (9) COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the city and it alarmed the officials who stressed that the guards shouldn’t be let down now.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) filed a resolution seeking for the reconsideration and seeking for Bacolod City ECQ extension. The body requested the National IATF if it can further extend the ECQ until May 15.

Recently, based on a post of TV Patrol Negros, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque revealed that Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has decided on the call for Bacolod City ECQ extension. According to him, the President approved the extension of the ECQ until May 15.
