Negros Occidental Under GCQ Starting Friday, This Is What Will Happen

General community quarantine in Negros Occidental will start this Friday.

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson announces general community quarantine enforcement in Negros Occidental to start this Friday, May 1.

In selected areas in the country, especially those which are at high risk in the spread of COVID-19, enhanced community quarantine or ECQ are declared to face extension as per President Duterte‘s statement. This is to contain the viral transmission and while those areas at moderate and low risk, will be put under general community quarantine (GCQ).

GCQ’s rules and regulations is a notch lower to that of ECQ but several rules such as prohibited mass gathering, check points, and social distancing will still be strictly implemented. There will also be limitations set as several establishment will operate again and mass transportation being allowed again. GCQ is now being called as “new normal”.

And now, Negros Occidental listed under areas at moderate risk is recommended to enforce GCQ. Other areas in the same category are Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Sultan Kudarat, and Lanao del Sur.

As for Negros Occidental, GCQ will start on May 1, Friday, following s recommendation from National Inter-Agency Task Force against Covid-19. This was officially announced by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson as Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) orders LGU to obey NITF’s recommendation.

Checkpoints and border control will still continue, establishment to operate will be limited, shopping malls remain close, and restaurants are only allowed to do takeout orders. The governor is still waiting for the directives about mass transportation under GCQ from the Department of Transportation and he still haven’t decided yet whether to continue the use of home quarantine pass.

He is set to release the executive order this week as per TV Patrol Negros post.
