Bacolod SP Wants ECQ in the City To Be Extended Until May 15

BACOLOD SP – The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City is seeking for the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) until May 15.

Bacolod City is one of the cities that is currently under an Enhanced Community Quarantine. More commonly called as ECQ, this measure is also implemented in Luzon and provinces in Visayas and Mindanao to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In Bacolod, nine (9) cases of coronavirus or COVID-19 were recorded. The latest five (5) cases were recorded amid the ECQ implementation in the city and in the province of Negros Occidental.

The ECQ in Bacolod City is set to expire this April 30. Last night, it was reported that the city will abide by the recommendation of the national IATF against COVID-19.

Negros Occidental is one of the provinces that will be placed under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) after April 30. It is per the recommendation of the national IATF for low and moderate risk areas.

However, recently, reports about Bacolod SP seeking for the extension of the ECQ in the city crossed the surface. Based on a report of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, the SP approved a resolution asking the national IATF to consider the ECQ extension.

The Bacolod SP wants the ECQ to be extended until May 15 for the safety of the people. It cited in its resolution that Iloilo City which has seven (7) cases was allowed to extend the ECQ and there are still pending results in Bacolod.
