Cebu City’s New Coronavirus Cases Mostly Recorded in Epicenter

NEW CORONAVIRUS CASES – The local government of Cebu City confirmed 40 new cases of COVID-19 in the city.

The Philippines is one of the over 200 countries battling against the impacts of coronavirus. Officially called as COVID-19, this pandemic has claimed over 200,000 lives worldwide.

In PH, the Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed 7,579 cases of the disease in the country as of this writing. Out of the total number, 862 patients have already recovered while 501 died of the disease.

One of the cities in the Philippines with a huge number of coronavirus cases is Cebu City. It is one of those wherein the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) will be extended until May 15.

Mayor Edgardo Labella of Cebu City has locked down Barangay Luz, the epicenter of COVID-19 in the city. It is considered by the Department of Health as an infected area.

Recently, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, 40 new coronaviruse cases were recorded in Cebu City. It was confirmed by Mayor Edgardo Labella. Most cases were recorded in Barangay Luz.

Twenty-two (22) of the newly confirmed cases of the disease are from Barangay Luz. The said number is coming from different sitios now not only Sitio Zapatera which was considered an infected area.

The individuals who tested positive for coronavirus were brought to Barangay Isolation Centers. Based on the report, in the city, 19 schools were identified as isolation centers for the asymptomatic patients and those who showed only mild symptoms.

Aside from the Barangay Isolation Centers, the city has also opened a quarantine center. The said facility located at the North Reclamation Area can cater up to 200 patients with mild to medium signs of COVID-19. There is now a total of 451 cases of the disease confirmed in the city.
