Update on Cebu City Jail Coronavirus / COVID-19 Cases
CEBU CITY – The local government confirmed 63 new cases of COVID-19 or coronavirus in the city jail.
One of the cities in the Philippines with a huge number of coronavirus cases is Cebu. It has now more than 400 cases of the disease amid the outbreak in the country.
The entire Luzon and most provinces in Visayas and Mindanao are currently under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) which is set to expire this April 30. However, due to the ongoing increase on the cases of the disease, the ECQ will be extended in high-risk areas.
In the Philippines, there is now a total of over seven (7) thousand confirmed cases of coronavirus. Some of these are from the different city jails.
The city jail in Cebu City is one of those that recorded cases of coronavirus. Recently, City Mayor Edgar Labella gave an update through his Facebook account. In a post, the Mayor stated that 63 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the city jail.
According to Mayor Labella, the City Health Department is already coordinating with the Bureau of Jail Management & Penology (BJMP) regarding the measures to curb the spread of the disease inside the jail.
Based on a Facebook post, the recent addition on the cases of coronavirus confirmed inside the jail brings the total to 207. The ECQ in Cebu will be extended until May 15, 2020.
