2 Pangasinan Barangay Officials Caught Doing Illegal Gambling
BAYAMBANG, PANGASINAN – Two (2) barangay officials in this town were apprehended for illegal gambling on Wednesday.
While other Barangay officials including chairmen are doing their best to give assistance to their constituents, there are inconsiderate officials who are reportedly corrupt and limiting their assistance to needy people in their area.
Some are getting involved in drinking alcohol amid liquor ban, illegal cockfighting, and worst are on illegal drugs. Instead of doing their duties amid the public health crisis, they are being arrested for illegal activities.
Meanwhile, two barangay chairmen in the town of Bayambang, Pangasinan, and a barangay kagawad in Lingayen were apprehended after caught doing illegal gambling. The officials were identified as 50-year-old Renato Soriano, and 57-year-old Romeo Caranto, of Barangays Tamaro and Banaban.
According to the report, playing cards and P4,190 bet money were confiscated at the place. Meanwhile, the 52-year-old Barangay kagawad Ramy Reyes, and 65-year-old Virginia Bustamante, both residents of Barangay Aliwekwek were also caught playing tong-its.
Money worth P30,640 as their bet on the game and playing cards were reportedly confiscated from the suspects. The suspects are now in authority’s custody and may face charges for violation of illegal gambling.
