Mayor Isko Moreno released a statement on possible hard lockdown
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said that it is possible that more barangays in the capital city of the Philippines may be placed under hard lockdown.
Yorme, as part of his hard work to address the health crisis in Manila due COVID-19, may decided to place other barangays also under hard lockdown following his plan regarding the Sampaloc District.
Earlier, Moreno said that the said area in Manila will be placed under hard lockdown due to the alarming raise in the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases there. Based on the report from GMA News Online, the mayor might also imposed the same measure in other areas with rising growth of infected patients.
“That’s possible. Depende ‘yan sa galaw ng tao. Depende ‘yan sa disiplina. Depende ‘yan sa datos in terms of infection,” he said.
Mayor Isko also said, “Dina-draft pa lang namin ‘yung executive order. Because for the past two days, we’ve been planning necessary actions attending to some particular effects and needs.”
In a recent report from the Manila Police District, posted on the official social media account of the Manila Public Information Office, several areas were seen not following the enhanced community quarantine protocol and physical distancing.
Included in the necessary actions that the Manila government has done was the re-opening of the Ospital ng Sampaloc. It was temporarily closed because five staff of the hospital tested positive for COVID-19. Disinfection was also done.
Mayor Isko said that barangay officials of Sampaloc were consulted regarding the hard lockdown that will be implemented in their area. Based on the report, the actor turned politician said that authorities will be sensitive in implementing the hard lockdown.
As of press time, there are already 99 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sampaloc. Based on Monday’s record, there are 458 patients in Manila.
