For irresponsible recipients of SAP, Bong Go imposes warning
Senator Bong Go imposes warning against “pasaway” cash assistance recipients through the government’s social amelioration program (SAP).
In order to help the affected families of the enhanced community quarantine, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the national government provided cash assistance. However, several reports surfaced that some beneficiaries irresponsibly used the cash aid that they received.
A previous report stated that a man was arrested for buying prohibited substance after he received his P6,500 from SAP. In line with this, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go warned irresponsible recipients, based on the report from PIA.
He also encouraged beneficiaries to use wisely the cash assistance that they received. “Nagkandahirap na nga ‘yung national government, ang Department of Social Welfare and Development, nagkandahirap na nga silang pagkasyahin at i-allocate para maibigay sa inyo tapos ibibili ninyo lang ng droga. Sayang lang po,” he added.
The Senator also said that every time he has the chance to go around the country, he would remind people not to waste money on drugs. He would encourage Pinoys to just buy food for their families.
Based on the report, two beneficiaries of SAP were also disqualified because they were caught engaging in cockfighting.
