DOH posts emergency hiring of health workers to fight COVID-19.

EMERGENCY HIRING – Here are the specific positions the Department of Health is needing now along with their salary and benefits ahead of them.

The lack of professional people as the country fight Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is one alarming fact. This went to show after the Department of Health (DOH), posted guidelines of emergency hiring for health workers.

Accordingly, the hiring is through contract service with a minimum of three months of service and is renewable. They are in need of people suitable for the following positions:

  • Physician
  • Nurse
  • Medical Technologist
  • Respiratory Therapist
  • Radiologic Technologist
  • Medical Equipment Technician
  • Nursing Attendant
  • Ambulance Driver
  • Administrative Assistant

And here are the benefits ahead of them if they get to be hired:

  • additional 20% to your salary from your basic salary
  • COVID-19 hazard allowance of Php 500.00 per day (regardless if in duty or under quarantine)
  • GSIS Group insurance Php 500.00
  • monthly Php 1,000.00 allowance for communication and transportation
  • Php 100,00.00 in case you get the virus and Php 1,000,000.00 if you die due to it
  • PhilHealth to shoulder hospitalization benefits
  • PPEs
  • board and lodging while on duty or under quarantine
  • psychosocial support
  • CPD units
  • preferential evaluation for DOH vacancies
  • medico-legal assistance

According to their April 12 bulletin on their website regarding this emergency hiring, Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III said, “The hiring of health personnel is primarily to augment our workforce in health facilities in the regions, provinces, or cities that manage COVID-19 cases.”

They will be assigned in the following:

  1. DOH-designated COVID-19 referral hospitals like Philippine General Hospital (PGH), Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP), Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital;
  2. Temporary treatment and monitoring facilities for COVID-19;
  3. DOH-designated COVID-19 diagnostic facilities;
  4. Public hospitals (national and local) handling COVID-19 patients; and
  5. Private hospitals duly designated by the DOH to handle COVID-19 cases.
