DOH Gives Update on PH Coronavirus Cases

DOH – The Department of Health confirmed 200 new cases of coronavirus or COVID-19 in the Philippines today, April 20, 2020.

Philippines is one of the over 200 countries fighting against coronavirus or COVID-19 now, a pandemic that placed several nations under an outbreak. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the fight against this pandemic is going to be a long-term battle.

The entire Philippines now is under a state of calamity as declared by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Aside from the said declaration, the entire Luzon is under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Provinces in Visayas and Mindanao are also implementing the ECQ. Everyone is advised to stay at home and to exhibit social distancing when they are in public places.

DOH Update Coronavirus Philippines

According to the Department of Health (DOH), there is a total of 200 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in the Philippines. It brings the total count to 6,459.

Unfortunately, 19 new deaths due to COVID-19 were recorded in the country. According to the health department, the death toll is now at 428. On the positive side, 41 new recoveries were recorded bringing the total to 613.

The ECQ in Luzon and most provinces in Visayas and Mindanao are until April 30. The people await the announcement from the government on whether it will be extended, lifted, or the status will have some modifications.
