COFFIN – A officials of a barangay in Sampaloc, Manila placed coffin at a checkpoint to remind them to stay indoors amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Almost all of the governments around the world issued strict measures to combat the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Health officials advised the public to practice ‘social distancing‘ or ‘physical distancing’ to reduce transmission.

Sadly, there are still lots of people who ignored these rules amid the pandemic. In a previous article, residents in Calamba, Laguna failed to maintain the 6-foot distance during a relief operation.

Now, a Barangay in Luzon made rounds in social media after their barangay captain found a scary strategy to keep residents in their houses amid the “enhanced community quarantine” imposed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Based on a report from GMA News, the officials at a Barangay 436 barangay in Sampaloc, Manila used the casket to remind its people to stay in their homes.

The barangay officials borrowed the creepy coffin from a funeral home and placed it on Loreto Street. They also placed a sign that reads: “Please stay at home or stay inside this coffin.”

According to the report, Barangay captain Roma Pangga Andrea said no one has violated their quarantine rules yet. “‘Yung reaction din nung mga tao din na tungkol din diyan sa kabaong na yan, eh hindi na sila dumadaan pa doon,” she said.
