Conor McGregor Calls For Lockdown In Ireland, Donates €1M Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
IRELAND – MMA fighter Conor McGregor gave 1 million euros worth of protective gear and urged Ireland to go into “full lockdown.”
The 2019 novel coronavirus has spread rapidly around the world and the number of infected persons and death continues to increase. Individuals and companies stepped up to help combat the spread of the deadly virus from China.
In a previous article, Barcelona forward Lionel Messi donated 1 million euros to his hometown. The money will be used in hospitals that treat COVID-19 patients.
Recently, UFC star Conor McGregor took to social media to call on the government of Ireland to go into ‘full lockdown’ amid the COVID-19 crisis. Based on a report from Daily Mail, there have been 1,125 confirmed cases and 6 deaths in Ireland.
The 31-year-old MMA fighter purchased personal protective equipment worth 1 million euros for the healthcare workers in his country. “Today I am purchasing myself, one million euro worth of personal protective equipment to be deployed to all the fighting hospitals in the Leinster region. Our most affected region, to this date,” he said.
In his speech, Conor McGregor said Ireland needs to take the COVID-19 seriously before the problem gets worse. He revealed that he bought gloves, face masks, and other protective gear for the frontliners.
“I know that when the true seriousness of this is understood, as it is becoming now, our great nation will oblige and impeccably do so. It is time for total lockdown and we are ready,” he said.
