The Philippines is under a state of calamity due to coronavirus pandemic. Healthcare workers risk their lives to save their countrymen from the deadly virus.
In a previous article, actress Angel Locsin and her soon-to-be-husband Neil Arce set up sleeping quarters at a hospital for the frontliners. They are among those who are excluded from the work-from-home arrangement.
On Wednesday, fashion designer Michael Leyva shared photos of himself with Angel Locsin and bags of PPEs on his Instagram account. He said the actress helped him distribute the personal protective equipment he created for the frontliners.
“Sent over our first sets of PPEs for our heroes frontliners with our hero Darna herself Angel Locsin. I decided to put bible verses and words of encouragement to uplift their day. Mabuhay po kayo and Maraming salamat po sa malasakit”
Healthcare workers and volunteers have been making their own protective gear to cope up with the shortage. They are using recyclable plastic containers, plastic bags or foam.
Recently, Angel Locsin was spotted wearing a garbage bag to protect herself from coronavirus. The video was uploaded by a fan on Instagram. It came with a caption, “Hindi lang lumilipad si darna rumarampa rin salute to you for being a good person.”

Aside from Angel, celebrities like Pokwang, Alden Richards, Kathryn Bernardo, and Alex Gonzaga have offered a helping hand to frontliners and families affected by the pandemic.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte hailed the doctors and front liners who died of the virus as heroes. “Lahat po sila ay bayani and not only that, talagang bumilib ako,” he said.
