Palace Mourns Passing Of Three Coronavirus-Infected Doctors
PALACE – Malacañang Palace mourn the death of three doctors who contracted COVID-19 while treating infected patients.
Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte imposed “enhanced community quarantine” to control the spread of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19. It means people must be confined in all households and the suspension of public transportation. The deadly virus from China has infected 380 people with 25 death and 17 recoveries.
The front liners are among those exempted from the work-from-home arrangement. The frontliners received recognition for their service to the people amid the pandemic.
Three coronavirus-infected doctors died from the coronavirus disease. In a previous article, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the health workers who died in the line of duty fighting coronavirus were heroes.
Based on a report from the Philippine News Agency, Malacañang Palace mourns the death of 3 doctors. Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo urged the public to pray for those healthcare workers who risked their lives battling the pandemic.
“Let us join hands in solemn prayers for our health frontliners who daily put thier lives on the line as they treat those who have the virus… we must all take care of ourselves because in doing so we take care of others,” Panelo said.
Oncologist Rose Pulido of San Juan de Dios Hospital, anesthesiologist Gregorio Macasaet III of Manila Doctors Hospital and Cardiologist Israel Bactol from the Philippine Heart Center succumbed to coronavirus in the last 2 days.
According to the report, Duque earlier said the Health department needs some P2.35 billion to procure personal protective equipment (PPE) including helmets, goggles, gowns and other garments designed to protect the wearer from the virus.
