McDonalds PH Announces Release Of P500M Aid For Employees, Community Assistance

MCDONALDS – On March 20, McDonalds Philippines announced the release of the P500 million aid for their employees and community assistance.

Companies, celebrities, and civilians have donated to help the people who are affected by the coronavirus crisis. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has placed the country under a state of calamity due to the increasing numbers of confirmed cases in the country.

ABS-CBN actress Bela Padilla and Pokwang have offered helping hands amid the COVID-19 concerns. They focus on the welfare of the informal workers in Metro Manila.

In a previous article, Jollibee Food Corporation provided P1 billion for the advanced salary and 13th-month pay of their employees in Metro Manila. The country’s largest fast-food operator allotted that huge amount so that their employees can comply with the government’s orders.

Based on a report from GMA News, McDonald’s Philippines Founder and chairman, Dr. George T. Yang, announced that they will donate P500,000 to help fight the coronavirus pandemic. The community that serves amid the pandemic and their employees will benefit money.

“Amidst any crisis, people must come first; we do what we can to ensure their welfare. We also have a responsibility to our partners to ensure that they can continue doing business and be able to care for their own people. Finally, as a Filipino company, we have a duty to be a partner of the government in serving the public in whatever way we can,” said Yang.

McDonalds Employees:

  • Restaurant crew and managers whether they are unable to come to work or not, and head office employees’ salaries to be released for the period of the quarantine.
  • A special premium pay package will be provided for crew and managers who are able to come to work in selected stores that remain open to serve the community in enhanced quarantine areas.
  • Special benefits like provision of care kits (face masks, alcohol, and vitamins) to ensure employee safety in the workplace as well as provisions for premium pay.

According to the report, McDonalds will provide food for the frontliners like LGU workers, medical health workers, NGO volunteers, and marginalized sectors.
