DOF says government economic team rolls out Php 27.1-billion package for people affected of the virus.
CORONAVIRUS 2019 – Department of Finance (DOF) press release about the Php 27.1-billion package to combat the pandemic coronavirus disease 2019.
The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an unseen enemy now of many countries from different parts of the world. There are hundreds of thousands of confirmed cases and thousands of deaths recorded globally. In Philippines, there are 140 cases and 12 deaths already and this threat has brought may areas and provinces under strict community quarantine, a move to contain the spread of the virus.
And now, a press release from the Department of Finance (DOF) stated that the government announced Php 27.1-billion package intended for frontliners to better equip health authorities combat coronavirus and people who got affected of the virus. Accordingly, this is designed to do two things:
“First is to ensure that funding is available for the efforts of the Department of Health (DOH) to contain the spread of COVID-19. Second is to provide economic relief to those whose businesses and livelihoods have been affected by the spread of this disease.”

Also, in the press release, Governor Diokno said, “There is no reason to believe that the COVID-19 crisis could severely cut the Philippine growth momentum.”
He added that in even worst possible scenario, the country can still grow for this year by about 6 percent in the medium term.
