Pres. Duterte Imposes “Enhanced Community Quarantine” on Luzon
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte put Luzon under an “Enhanced Community Quarantine” over the 2019 novel coronavirus.
The government and the authorities are seeking the cooperation of the people now in the battle against the 2019 novel coronavirus. Officially called as COVID-19, the said disease has infected 140 people in the country now.
The COVID-19 has held several other countries under an outbreak – that is what the Philippine government and the authorities are trying to prevent. In line with the goal to curb its spread, the President previously placed Metro Manila under a “community quarantine“.
Most patients of coronavirus are confined in hospitals and medical facilities in Metro Manila. Since March 15, 2020, all travels by land, sea, and air to and from the Metro are suspended.
Furthermore, classes in schools were suspended. The entry from cities to cities covered by the travel restrictions are open for employees and essentials only.
Recently, an update from Malacanang crossed the surface. Based on a report on GMA News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte put Luzon under an “enhanced community quarantine”.
There are still no further details over the declaration or what changes will it bring. The President is awaited to speak to the public this afternoon.
