TMC in Pasig City Stopped Accepting COVID-19 Patients

PASIG – The Medical City (TMC) in Pasig City has temporarily stopped accepting patients suspected of having COVID-19 due to the increasing number of confirmed cases.

On Tuesday, March 10, the Department of Health (DOH) reported that the novel coronavirus cases in the Philippines rises to 35. Philippine National Police chief General Archie Francisco Gamboa said they are ready to deploy 40,000 cops if ever the government order to lockdown Metro Manila.

One of the infected areas in the Philippine is Pasic City. In a report, Mayor Vico Sotto confirmed that a resident in the city tested positive for coronavirus.

Based on a report from Bilyonaryo.com, a surgeon at TMC got infected with the deadly virus. The admin of the said hospital decided to stop accepting patients suspected of having COVID-19 due to the rise of the number of confirmed cases.

Dr. Jose Antonio M. Salud (Chairman, Department of Surgery) said the threat of the coronavirus is real as “one of its consultant staff has contracted the virus based on tests done a few days ago.”

According to the report, Dr. Salud assured that the infected surgeon “is safely quarantined at home” and they are tracing all the people the surgeon had close contact with. Director of the health institution Dr. Karl Evans Henson said they are already taking care of 3 confirmed COVID-19 cases. He directed the ER team to transfer all confirmed cases to other hospitals because TMC is already at full capacity.

“While our patients are our primary concern, we cannot ignore the fact that a healthy and safe workforce is imperative to sustain the level and quantity of care that we provide to our currently admitted patients,” said Dr. Henson.
