A Pinoy lawmaker is now urging the Department of Education to suspend the graduation rites and school balls due to coronavirus outbreak.
The Philippines government is currently implementing precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease, which is now spreading in different countries all around the world.

Mr. Duterte also declared the Philippines under a state of public health emergency and ordered the local government units and national agencies to contain the virus.
On Tuesday (March 10, 2020), Senator Sherwin Gatchalian wants to postpone the graduation rites, prom, and other school activities. The lawmaker made the proposal due to the increasing cases of coronavirus disease in the Philippines.
Gatchalian wants the graduation and moving up ceremonies from kindergarten up to college level and other school activities involving a huge number of students to be suspended for at least two weeks.
“Ito ay dapat suspendihin na kaagad para ‘yung mga OFWs natin na babalik pa, hindi pa bumalik muna… Yung pag-travel nila puwedeng mahawaan sila nung katabi nila sa eroplano at ‘yung sakit ay madadala dito sa atin,” “Papasa pa rin ‘yung bata. Puwede pa rin siya pumasok next school year pero ‘yung ceremonies… postponed muna to a later date,” Gatchalian said.
