Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte Confirms 1st Coronavirus Case

QUEZON CITY – Mayor Joy Belmonte revealed that there is one (1) confirmed case of coronavirus in the city.

Currently, the Philippines is on a tough fight against the 2019 novel coronavirus. Officially called as COVID-19, there are again new confirmed cases of the disease in the country.

Previously, three (3) Chinese nationals tested positive for coronavirus, a disease that was first recorded in China. One (1) of the said Chinese nationals, a man aging 44 years old, died of the disease marking the first coronavirus death outside China.

The two (2) other Chinese nationals recovered from coronavirus. For several weeks, Philippines was free from the confirmed cases of the disease.

However, last week, two (2) new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the Philippines. Both patients are Filipinos with one having no travel history. The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed a case of local transmission with the 5th coronavirus patient.

The wife of the 5th coronavirus patient also tested positive for the disease. Also, on Sunday, four (4) people tested positive for COVID-19 bringing the total to 10.

Recently, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte confirmed a case of coronavirus in the city based n DZBB Super Radyo. As of this writing, no further details were given yet.
