BREAKING NEWS: PH Confirms 2 New Coronavirus Cases

According to reports from Inquirer, Two men were infected with the deadly disease. One had a recent travel history to Japan while the other had “no known history of travel”.

The outbreak of the new coronavirus had already spread worldwide. Countries such as South Korea, Japan, and Italy, have had an increased number of cases.

South Korea had been placed under RED ALERT for infectious diseases. Meanwhile, Italy had been placed under alert level 3 with community-wide local transmissions.

As per the report both cases are Filipinos with one of the patients visiting a prayer hall in San Juan City.

The spread of the coronavirus worldwide had caused several large scale events to shut down. Most notably, the Umrah, a year-round pilgrimage had been suspended in Saudi.

The pilgrimages pack millions of people together in small religious sites. Potentially, this could cause a major outbreak of the virus.

However, the issue is still a potential powder keg as it risks riling devotees that hold religion over health concerns. Moreover, some devout Muslims see the pilgrimages as a key right of passage, whatever the risk.
