Robin Padilla Accuses ABS-CBN Of Black Propaganda Against Pres. Duterte

ABS-CBN – Filipino actor Robin Padilla accused the ABS-CBN of black propaganda against Rodrigo Roa Duterte in 2016.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte accused the ABS-CBN network of not airing his political ads during the 2016 polls. Weeks before the franchise of the media network expires, Solicitor General Jose Calida filed a quo warranto petition before the Supreme Court to revoke the existing franchise of the company.

Yesterday, the senate committee finally tackled the measures that would renew the tv network’s franchise ahead of the House of Representatives. Currently, there are 12 House bills asking for the renewal of the franchise Kapamilya network that is set to expire on March 30.

During the hearing, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go questioned the airing of the anti-Duterte advertisement paid for by Senator Antonio Trillanes. He asked the ABS-CBN officials why they let that ad go on air.

“Paano ito nagiging political ad? Ano ba ang priority ninyo? Black Propaganda?”

“This is very troublesome. Media networks are supposed to be impartial… Kung nagawa ito sa isang kandidato sa pagka-presidente, paano pa sa isang ordinaryong mamamayan, ordinaryong Pilipino lamang?” he added.

ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak apologized to the Rodrigo Duterte and made an explanation. “‘Dun sa local ads nagkaproblema kami because we only have 2 minutes of airtime per hour. In the case of local ads, the President placed an order of Php 65-million worth of spots of which we failed to air Php 7-million worth,” he said.
