Suspected Coronavirus Cases in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental Rises to 3
SUSPECTED CORONAVIRUS CASES IN BACOLOD – There are now three (3) suspected cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
The alarm caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak in China continues to prompt tight securities in every port. Wuhan City, the epicenter of the disease, is now under a mandatory lock-down.
Nearly 8,000 people in Wuhan are infected by the 2019 novel coronavirus. Also called as nCoV, the said disease took the lives of 427 individuals as of this writing. A total of 425 deaths was recorded in China, one (1) in the Philippines, and one (1) in Hong Kong.
The first coronavirus death case outside China was recorded in the Philippines. The patient was a 44-year-old Chinese man admitted at San Lazaro Hospital in Manila. He was the companion of the Chinese woman who was first confirmed case of nCoV in the country.
Recently, several other areas in the Philippines have confirmed suspected cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus. Bacolod City in Negros Occidental is one of those with patients that are under monitoring for possible nCoV infection.
On February 3, 2020, the Negros Occidental Provincial Government confirmed that there are two (2) suspected cases of coronavirus in Bacolod City. One patient is a foreigner while the other is a Filipino.
The foreigner who is married to a Filipina was from Taiwan. The Filipino patient had a travel history in Hong Kong. Both of them are confined at Doña Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital. Their specimens have already been sent for checking.
Recently, an update crossed the surface – there are now three (3) suspected coronavirus cases in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. Based on a post on DYHB Tatak RMN Page on Facebook, it was no other than Bacolod City Vice Mayor Elcid Familiaran who confirmed it.
According to the Vice Mayor, the third patient is now confined at the regional hospital. She is a 58-year-old Filipina from Hong Kong who was confined last night, February 3.
