Authorities Confirm Death of Companion of Coronavirus Patient in the Philippines

COMPANION OF CORONAVIRUS PATIENT – The man who came from Wuhan City in China to the Philippines died due to 2019 novel coronavirus.

The scare brought by the 2019 novel coronavirus, also called as nCoV, did not only challenge China but several countries across the globe. Its outbreak has reached several other countries including the Philippines.

The disease was first recorded in Wuhan City in the province of Hubei, China. It is speculated that it came from bat soup served in the market. Its health signs are similar to flu which includes fever, cough, and breathing difficulties. It targets the respiratory system of the person.

Last Thursday, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the first coronavirus case in the Philippines. The patient is a 38-year-old woman from Wuhan City.

Companion of Coronavirus Patient

The Chinese woman reached the Philippines from Hong Kong. She was aboard a Cebu Pacific flight with a Chinese man to Cebu. They arrived in the country on January 21, 2020.

The pair is said to have visited some places in Cebu and they flew to Dumaguete where they took a flight going to Manila. In January 25, they were admitted at a hospital in Manila.

After announcing that a Chinese woman in the Philippines tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the DOH confirmed that she and her companion are admitted in San Lazaro Hospital. The authorities traced the people who were in contact with them during their travel.

Recently, a news that ignited the coronavirus alarm in the Philippines crossed the surface. Based on a report on Reuters, the companion of the coronavirus patient in the country died.

According to the report, the 44-year-old man was already stable and his body was showing signs of improvement. Unexpectedly, his condition deteriorated fast in the last 24 hours before he passed away.

The authorities are now in contact with the Chinese embassy regarding the remains of the late companion of the coronavirus patient in the Philippines. The DOH assured they are implementing all that are needed to prevent the disease from spreading.
