Plague Inc. is a game where you make your own virus and attempt to infect and kill every human in the world. You could even mutate your virus to make it even more fatal.

During the outbreak of the new Wuhan Coronavirus, the game has seen a trending increase of players. But, the company that created the game feared people are sensationalizing the virus.

In lieu of this, they made this statement on Twitter:

Plague Inc. has been out for eight years now and whenever there is an outbreak of disease we can see an increase in players, as people seek to find out more a bout how diseases spread and to understand the complexities of viral outbreaks.

In addition, they said that they had specifically designed the game to be realistic and informative. However, they did not want to sensationalize real-world issues.

However, please remember that Plague Inc. is a game, not a scientific model and that the current coronavirus outbreak is a very real situation which is impacting a huge number of people.

At the end of their statement they urged players that if they wanted information about the current virus, they should get it directly from local and global health authorities.

The new coronavirus that has struck China had already caused over 200 deaths and had infected over 9000 people. Because of this, countries had barred travel from China.
