Mark Lapid Reveals Stand on the Issue About the Renewal of ABS-CBN Franchise

MARK LAPID – The actor-politician spoke on the issue regarding the renewal of the franchise of ABS-CBN network.

Recently, the issue regarding the franchise of the ABS-CBN network became the talk of the town again. It is after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed that the network is out.

Speaking at the Malacañang Palace, the President revealed that there are Kapamilya executives who are reaching out to him. However, he looks firm on stopping the renewal of the network’s franchise if he can.

Pres. Duterte claimed that he paid a huge amount of money to ABS-CBN for his campaign advertisement during the 2016 Election. However, the network allegedly did not air his campaign ad.

Several celebrities have already spoken on the issue. Recently, actor-politician Mark Lapid who also appears on ABS-CBN network, revealed his stand regarding the issue over the renewal of its franchise.

Based on a report on Pep, Mark is one of those who are hoping that the franchise would be renewed. He is after the sake of the people who will lose their job in case it won’t be renewed.

“Ang concern lang naman namin, if it’s going down the line, ang mga mawawalan ng trabaho, at isa na po ako roon,” he said.

The actor-politician expressed that the issue may be resolved through a discussion between the President and the network. With regards to his father being at the Senate, he expressed that he has no direct communication with the President.

“Through Bong Go. Kasi, kasama namin sa House at iyan ang malapit sa Presidente. Baka puwede namang pag-usapan,” he expressed based on the report.

Mark Lapid is confident that other politicians are also doing something to help resolve the issue. With regards to the chance that the franchise of ABS-CBN will be renewed, he responded “50-50” as nothing is going on now.

The said issue is scheduled to be tackled in January 2020. Mark affirmed that it can be vetoed by the President but he is hopeful that it will fixed.
