According to Inquirer, Eric Apolonio, CAAP spokesperson, said however that it is up to airlines, both local and international, to resume flights to and fro the city of Albay.

Apolonio added that the passenger terminal of the airport, which shouldered the impact of the damage, has been cleaned and fixed. The runway and tower are now operational as well.

“Nalinis na at partially naayos na ‘yung mga problema sa loob ng passenger terminal”

“Binuksan na namin ang airport for operations today pero ‘yung [pag-operate] ng flights is up to the airlines”

So far, the Philippine Airlines is the only airline that scheduled flights to the airport on Wednesday (December 4). The CAAP spokesperson added that the airlines have safety protocols and standards to follow before they are able to operate flights.

Based on the report, he said that the said airport in Albay is ready to accomodate flights.

“We are ready. Wala naman nang nakikita na problema”

The airport was left in ruin due to the powerful winds and intense rain brought by the now severe tropical storm tisoy, internationally called Kammuri.
