Tropical Storm Ramon Strands 533 Passengers In Bicol Region

TROPICAL STORM RAMON – There were 533 passengers that were left stranded in Bicol Region ports due to the rough seas and harsh weather brought by Tropical Storm Ramon.

Based on a report by ABS-CBN, the passengers are in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes. With this, the Coast Guard directed its personnel to ensure the safety of lives and property at all costs.

They also temporarily suspended the operations of 107 rolling cargoes, 8 vessels, and 2 motor bancas because of the harsh weather.

Adding to this, the Coast Guard said that there were at least 8 vessels and 5 motor bancas that took shelter from the storm.

As per the report, Storm Singal No.1 was elevated in the following areas:

  • Southeastern parts of Cagayan (Peñablanca and Baggao)
  • Eastern parts of Isabela (Divilacan, Palanan, Dinapigue, Maconacon)
  • Northern Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, and Dinalungan)
  • Polio Islands

Due to Tropical Storm Ramon, sea travel remained to be dangerous especially for sea crafts in areas elevated to signal number 1.

These sea borders are:

  • Northern Luzon
  • Central Luzon
  • Southern Luzon

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Ramon was last seen 445 km east northeast of Casiguran Aurora around 4 a.m.

The weather disturbance is more likely to make landfall in northern Luzon on the weekend up to Monday morning.

Based on the report, eastern part of Cagayan and Isabela, Bicol region, Romblon, Panay Island, and Cuyo Island will face light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains.

Along with it are winds up to 75 kilometers per hour near its center. It also carries gusts that go up to 90 kilometers per hour.
