China Main Source Of Illegal Drugs Shipped Into PH Says VP Leni
CHINA SOURCE OF DRUGS – According to Vice President Leni Robredo, the majority of illegal drugs shipped to the Philippines comes from China.
The new drug czar made her statement after the meeting with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
She said that she wanted to collect more data regarding illegal drugs. However, she emphasized that most of the supply comes from China.
Robredo added that most of the people arrested for operating drug schemes are Chinese nationals. She stressed that it is something that they need to look into.
Prior to her meeting with officials from DILG and PNP, Robredo met with the United Nations and US Embassy Officials. They discussed ways to address the drug trade in the Philippines.
The Vice President said that she would reach out to more sectors as the drug trade is a complex problem. She even mentioned that the drug trade now uses parcel and online gambling businesses.
Based on an article from GMA, Robredo said that there is still a large amount of information that she hasn’t received. She then said that there is still a lot to be done.
“Hindi lang iyong US iyong kausapin, hindi lang iyong UN ang kausapin, pero kausapin iyong iba pang mga bansa na tingin natin makakatulong sa atin“, said Robredo.
She also mentioned that she would look into which country could provide the Philippines with the most “urgent” data regarding the issue.
“It can be any of the countries na hindi lang na mayroon tayong partnerships, pero who have also been helping us in the past as far as the campaign against illegal drugs is concerned“, said the new drug czar.
