VP Spokesperson Says Duterte Admin Unprepared For Robredo Leading Drug War
VP SPOKESMAN – Vice Presidential Spokesperson Barry Guiterrez said the Duterte Administration is unprepared for VP Leni Robredo leading the war on drugs.
He stated that the words uttered by the Admin allies hint at them being taken by surprise by Robredo’s decision to accept the post given by Duterte. However, he assured that Robredo knew how tough the task is.
This could be a reaction to Senator Bato dela Rosa’s remark about “being pa cute” in the midst of a drug war. Adding to this, Sen. Bong Go also expresses his fears as Robredo took the post.
He said that he was afraid that the Vice President would end up “babying” drug lords. But, Gutierrez assures doubters that Robredo knew the seriousness of the work she accepted.
She is ready for it. With all the doubts they have expressed, it appears that they’re not ready for her, said Gutierrez. He added the Leni accepted to lead the campaign wholeheartedly.
Based on an article from Inquirer, he then quipped the detractors of Robredo, “Now, she was not even started her work and they’re already hitting her. So who’s playing politics now?”.
Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte invited Vice President Leni Robredo to play a lead role for the anti-drug campaign. Robredo has been appointed as co-chairperson of the Interagency Committee on Anti-illegal Drugs.
The vice president’s camp was mum on whether she would accept the post or not. A member of the Liberal Party even said that Robredo would refuse to accept the president’s offer.
On Wednesday (November 6, 2019), Robredo has finally accepted the post to be the co-chairperson of the drug war. The lady politician clarified that she only sought for a reassessment and never intended to stop the program.
