Cotabato Hit by Earthquake with 5.0 Magnitude Today

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 5.0 magnitude quake in Cotabato, October 30, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.

Phivolcs recorded a 6.4 magnitude quake in Tulunan, Cotabato yesterday. It was followed by several aftershocks.

Recently, a quake has hit a part of Cotabato. At 05:22 am today, October 30, 2019, Tulunan was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Cotabato was located at 06.81°North, 124.91°East – 010 km South 63° East of Tulunan. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 014 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated that there are no damages and aftershocks expected from the quake. The following intensities were recorded:
