Carlos Celdran Tweets About Duterte Before He Passed Away
CARLOS CELDRAN – The performance artist and cultural activist Carlos Celdran made a controversial tweet about President Duterte leading up to his death.
Celdran was famously known for his stunt called “Damaso”. He was also a visual artist, as well as a writer, and activist.
Damaso was originally from the works of Dr. Jose Rizal. He was one of the main antagonists of Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not).
He was also previously known for his work titled “If These Walls Could Talk”. It was a performative experience masked as a walking tour in Intramuros, Manila.
He was one of the more famous individuals that spoke strongly against the Duterte administration. This was highly evident in one of his last tweets that lead up to his death.
He tweeted out “Good. Now die. Please. Kthanxbye“. This was his reaction to the news that Duterte had a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease.
After his death, Netizen came swarming back to his tweet. Here are some of their reactions.
“Ayan kaka wish mo mamatay ang Presidente ikaw pa nauna karma is digital Boi“
-@lalalily08
“Wow this is creepy”.
-@PDdanger
Some even said that his tweet was the cause of his death. Netizens on Twitter were saying that this was his Karma for throwing out ill-will against the President.
“Mas tatagal pa buhay nya palagay ko. Wait for your karma soon!”
-@Drogoluvsbubwit
“haha papatulan ko sana pero mukhang mauuna pa ito mamayapa”
-@MarC012378
Admittedly, both Celdran and Duterte have had some controversial statements in the past. However, this type of behavior should never be permitted.
Actions like this would only add to the pool of toxicity from online social media platforms. According to We The Public, people should have a license before they could use social media.
