Malacañang’s Claire Castro Checks on Sen. Pia Cayetano
CLAIRE CASTRO – The Malacañang press officer undersecretary checked on Sen. Pia Cayetano citing she’s allegedly always gasping for breath when she speaks.
The impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has officially started in the Senate. On the first day of the trial, the senator-judges voted for Sen. Chiz Escudero to be the presiding officer. Such move gained the opposition of the minority bloc.
Twelve senators voted in favor of Sen. Chiz Escudero as the presiding officer of the Senate impeachment court while eight senators from the minority bloc voted in the negative. Here is the voting result:

Senate minority leader Alan Peter Cayetano who claimed that he will not accept it even if he would be offered to preside the impeachment court asserted that Escudero’s election is supposedly unlawful. The minority bloc believes that the presiding officer of the impeachment court must be the Senate president.
Amid the first three days of the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, there were already some instances when senator-judges clashed in opinions over certain matters. There are even new instances of Senate tension between senators Pia Cayetano and Risa Hontiveros. The public also witnessed how Senate Pres. Win Gatchalian proceeded amid the opposition of Senate minority leader Alan Peter Cayetano.
Recently, Malacañang press officer Atty. Claire Castro gave a message for Sen. Pia Cayetano. Based on News5, the Palace official checked on the Senator citing that she is supposedly always gasping for breath when she speaks.
According to Atty. Claire Castro, she’s unsure if Sen. Pia Cayetano is supposedly excited or is having an anxiety. The Palace official used the line that went viral as it was linked to the Senator following her emotional speech at the Senate after the alleged “fake firing” incident inside the chamber.
“Kumusta na po ba, Sen. Pia Cayetano? Dahil tuwing nagsasalita siya recently, parang lagi siyang hinihingal. Hindi natin alam kung excitement [o] anxiety,” she said.
Based on the post, Atty. Claire Castro also responded to the claim of Sen. Pia Cayetano that Malacañang is supposedly supportive of the majority bloc. According to the Palace official, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. supports the Senate as long as its activities are lawful.
“Susuportahan po [ni Pres. Marcos] ang ginagawa ng Senado as long as those activities are within the bounds of law,” Castro said.
Previously, Senate minority leader Alan Peter Cayetano claimed that the Senate majority allegedly does not like not having the lead in the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
