Charges Filed Against 119 Bureau of Customs Officials

BUREAU OF CUSTOMS OFFICIALS – BOC Chief Rey Leonardo Guerrero revealed that 119 officials of the government agency are faced with charges.

Currently, not only the campaign against drugs is being heightened but as well as the campaign against corruption. Cleaning the country from these two are promises of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The pursuit to end corruption visibly does not spare anyone. Even the officials and employees of the different government agencies are at risk of losing their posts if proven to be corrupt.

In fact, in the Bureau of Customs, the Office of the Ombudsman has recently released a decision involving employees of the government agency. Its verdict leads to the removal of seven(7) Customs employees from their posts.

Based on a recent report on GMA News, the seven(7) employees removed due to several reasons belong to the 119 Bureau of Customs officials who are faced with charges now. It was confirmed by no other than Customs Chief Rey Leonardo Guerrero.

According to the Customs Chief, 27 of the said officials are faced with show cause orders. Those who are facing complaints are on “floating” status now.

Furthermore, based on the report, the BOC officials that are facing complaints are also tasked to report to Compliance Monitoring Unit daily. It goes on while the investigation has yet to reach the finality.

BOC Chief Guerrero assured that the government agency will implement the decision of the Office of the Ombudsman. We’ll keep you posted for further updates.
