Jose Mari Chan has officially started the Christmas season in the Philippines
Veteran singer-songwriter Jose Mari Chan was asked about his Christmas wish, and here’s what he said.
In the Philippines, the Christmas season starts much earlier compared to other parts of the globe. By the end of August, memes and social media posts with the veteran singer’s face are already circulating, and by September 1, his Christmas songs are already being played on the radio, malls, and different establishments.
On Tuesday, Jose Mari officially opened the Christmas season through the Kapuso morning show Unang Hirit. After that, he had a guest appearance on the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime, which is also airing on GMA and GTV.
“I’m happy to be here! Thank you for inviting me. What’s Up Madlang People!” the veteran singer-songwriter said.
After that, one of the hosts, Darren Espanto, asked the Christmas icon about his wish this holiday season. “Kung kayo naman po ang hihiling, ano’ng gift naman po ang gusto n’yong matanggap ngayong taon this Christmas?” the singer-host said.
Jose Mari had a simple answer to this. “Prosperity to the Philippines. A lot of our countrymen are in need, So we should help our fellow countrymen,” he said.
When it comes to his personal wish, the veteran singer-songwriter said, “Good health, and happiness, prosperity to our family.”
After that, the OPM icon sang his iconic song “Christmas In Our Hearts,” and the hosts, as well as the Madlang People, sang along with him.
The It’s Showtime hosts also thanked the veteran singer for bringing joyful energy and beautiful songs that continue to give hope to every Filipino.
Last month, it was reported that Jose Mari Chan will have a star-studded Christmas concert this coming December. The early announcement made his fans so excited. However, no further details were shared yet as of this moment.
