Kadamay Members Held Protest on SONA Day 2019
SONA 2019 – The members of Kadamay group held a protest on SONA day and wore masks showing the faces President Duterte & Chinese President Xi Jinping.
On Monday (July 22, 2019), President Rodrigo Duterte is set to deliver his speech for his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed thousands of police officers in Quezon City to secure the SONA day.
The authorities are also expected protesters and rallyists at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City to prevent any untoward incident.
The urban poor group Kadamay held a protest on SONA day carrying banners saying “Atin Ang Pilipinas”.
The group is also urging the current administration to address the issue about the West Philippine Sea.
Kadamay members initially gathered in front of Quezon City Hall before heading to the headquarters of the National Housing Authority.
The poor group is urging the Philippine government to address poverty and accused President Duterte of selling land to foreigners.
The members of Kadamay even wore masks showing the faces of Philippines President Duterte and Chinese Leader Xi Jinping.
Several militant groups are also expected to proceed at Commonwealth Avenue to meet other protesters.
