Public Schools To Observe One Health Week, DepED Says

The Department of Education (DepEd) is urging all public schools in the Philippines to observe ‘one Health Week’ on July 22-26, 2019.

DepEd executive Leonor Briones announced that the Education Department would conduct the nationwide Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd One Health Week based in DepEd Memorandum No. 83 series of 2019.

Briones encourage the public elementary and secondary schools to carry out health activities including orientation of communities, delivery of health services, and hygiene practices during the health week.

The Education Department would also conduct feeding activities, comprehensive tobacco control, school gardening, and opening canteens featuring healthy foods and beverages.

The Education Secretary explained that the DepEd aims to maximize the promotion of improving the health facilities, manpower, medicines, and equipment.

Leonor Briones also encouraged the division health personnel, regional directors, and SDS to coordinate for the implementation of the activities during the health week.

The activity is pursuant to DepEd Order No. 28 s. of 2018 or the “Policy Guidelines on Oplan Kalusugan sa Department of Education (OK sa DepEd).”
