Mike Defensor has this message for VP Sara Duterte
Former Anakalusugan Party-list Rep. Mike Defensor conveyed a message to Vice President Sara Duterte after she visited him at the Quezon City Jail on Tuesday, August 4.
It will be recalled that the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed that the Vice President visited Defensor, as well as to Sen. Rodante Marcoleta and Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla also confirmed the arrest of Defensor, along with businessman Joseph Espiritu, at a coffee shop on July 6. The Sandiganbayan 3rd Division issued arrest orders for both Defensor and Espiritu after finding probable cause in the plunder case filed against Sen. Marcoleta.
Last month, Defensor was arrested for plunder complaint which was connected to the earlier admission of Senator Rodante Marcoleta, who is also facing a separate plunder case.
Based on reports, Marcoleta acknowledged receiving P75 million from three campaign donors, and it was alleged that this included Defensor, as financial support for his 2025 election campaign.
Following VP Sara’s visit to Defensor, based on the article in Balita, the latter shared a post on Facebook expressing gratitude to the second highest elected official in the Philippines.
“Thank you for taking the time to visit us. Please do not worry about us—we will keep the faith,” Mike Defensor expressed
He also said that they will continue fighting. “The fight against corruption must continue for the sake of our people and the future of the Filipino nation,” he stressed.
Furthermore, Defensor also offered words of encouragement to the Vice President, who is currently facing an impeachment trial.
“Stay strong throughout the impeachment proceedings. We will remain steadfast here, just as you must remain steadfast for the Filipino people. May God continue to guide and strengthen you,” Defensor said.
